The Cooldown ("we", "us", "our") is a gaming social platform available at thecooldown.app. It is operated as a personal project by an individual based in the United Kingdom.

You must be at least 13 years old to use The Cooldown. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

If you are under 18, you should have your parent or guardian's permission to use the platform.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Do not share your password with others.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. Impersonating another person or creating misleading profiles is not permitted.

You may only create one account. Duplicate or ban-evasion accounts may be removed without notice.

You agree not to use The Cooldown to:

• Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or discriminatory
• Share another person's private information without their consent
• Spam, advertise, or promote products or services without permission
• Upload malware, viruses, or any malicious code
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or its infrastructure
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the platform without written permission
• Use the platform in any way that could damage, disable, or overburden it
• Post content that promotes piracy, cheating, or exploiting games in ways that harm others

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms, at our sole discretion.

You retain ownership of the content you post on The Cooldown, including reviews, tier lists, and community posts.

By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, and share that content as part of operating the platform.

You are solely responsible for the content you post. We do not endorse or verify user-generated content.

We may remove any content that violates these Terms or that we deem harmful to the community, without notice.

The Cooldown includes AI-generated game recommendations powered by Anthropic's Claude API. These recommendations are generated automatically based on your activity and are for entertainment and discovery purposes only.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated recommendations.

The Cooldown allows you to optionally link third-party accounts including Steam and Discord. By connecting these accounts, you agree to the respective terms of service of those platforms.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party services.

The Cooldown's name, logo, design, and original content are our intellectual property. You may not reproduce or use them without permission.

Game titles, artwork, and related assets belong to their respective owners. We display this content for reference and informational purposes.

We aim to keep The Cooldown available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The platform may be taken offline for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the platform at any time without notice.

The Cooldown is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be error-free, secure, or meet your expectations.

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, we exclude all liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of the platform.

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.

Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
