Release notes

What's new

Every update, improvement and fix to thecooldown — newest first.

🎮

Game pages, rebuilt

New

A full-bleed banner, the poster and platforms down one side, and your rating, log and review actions down the other. Screenshots are far bigger, the community score is the same gauge you see in the app, and reviews now sort by top, newest or highest.

🟢

See who's playing, right now

New

Connect Steam, Xbox or PlayStation and the site shows who's in a game at this moment — on the game's own page, and as a "What thecooldown is playing" row on the games page. You can turn this off any time with "Show what I'm playing" in your profile settings.

🗂️

Rank someone else's tier list yourself

New

Open anyone's tier list and hit "Rank these yourself" — you'll be asked where each game goes, then shown exactly how much you agreed and which calls you clashed hardest on. Hovering a game also tells you where the wider community puts it.

🏷️

Tier lists you can read at a glance

Updated

The browse page now shows a miniature of each list's actual layout instead of a few posters, so you can see the shape of a ranking before opening it. Votes are on the cards too, with new Top Voted and Controversial tabs.

🕹️

Platform links and studio pages

New

Every platform on a game page now carries its own icon and links straight out to that store. Developer and publisher names are links too — each studio has a page with everything they've made, their scores, and how much the community has played them.

🔥

A games page worth browsing

Updated

Trending this week, highest rated, and games nobody has touched yet all get their own rows, plus a Surprise Me button for when you can't decide. The page also loads dramatically faster — it was downloading about 8MB before showing you anything, and now downloads a fraction of that.

🔗

Sharing a game actually looks like something

Updated

Paste a game link into Discord or anywhere else and you'll get a proper card with the artwork, the poster, the community score and how many people rated it, instead of a blank preview.

🔧

Navigation, layout and 404s

Fixed

The navbar is cleaner and stays readable over bright artwork, missing games now return a real 404 rather than pretending to exist, and a handful of layout bugs — clipped hover states, a squashed FAQ button, faded descriptions — are gone.
